i caved in... bill gates forgive me!

i couldn't fight the urge any longer; i bought a shiny new ipod. 6 gigs just isn't enough these days, i need to carry 5 days worth of music and audio books in the palm of my hand!

and not just that...

i need to buy as many accessories so i can take the ipod everywhere i go. need to pass time at the subway? ipod. need to have something to occupy your time at work? ipod. need to deliver a baby? ipod! ... err... doctor, but he could be listening to an ipod.

i've bought the car mount, the radio transmitter, the car charger and a stereo adapter. the next thing on my list is the dock to surgically attach it to my head. steve jobs would be proud.

we've come a long way baby

last night, i was with a friend hanging around his office and i picked up a book while i waited. the book that i picked up was titled: website design, published in 2000.

it talked about things on designing websites with the user in mind. tips included, surveying the user and creating secondary navigation to suppliment the primary 'functional based' navigation. what really struck me was the topic on actually coding websites (i'm paraphrasing of course):
try to keep away from using tables for creating the layout of the website. tables should be used for displaying data. the ideal situation is to use css markup to separate the structure of the content from the sites design. this allows for easier site redesign and maintenance but unfortunately css and html hasn't evolved to that point yet.
reading that made me feel old. i've been designing websites since the time of nested tables and javascript roll overs. reading that one paragraph from a book published in 2000 just made me feel like watching some matlock and reminiscing about the good ole days. anyone else remember?

photos site

so yea, i know it's been a year since i've promised to update the photos section of this site, but you know me and updating. plus it took a while to come up with a design that i was happy with and since i'm not a photoshop user, i had to settle with something simple and easy. by simple, i mean it doesn't have a page tear on the side hehe.

so here's the updated photos site. let me know what you guys think.
