About

I’ve never been good at writing about me/site pages. It seems too much like self-promotion and being a stereotypical passive-agressive asian; I would rather walk around a crowd and directly into a moving train rather than interact with people. I’m shy that way, which also contradicts the whole purpose of this website that talks about me, my life, and my experiences.

Yes, I did design this website. Not bad for a programmer eh (I’m also Filipino Canadian)? Well, these days I really consider myself more of a web interface developer. That basically means that I had to renounce my hatred of photoshop and actually learn how to use it. I still don’t but I’m getting there slowly.

This website is managed by Wordpress. I designed the XHTML and CSS code/template by hand using EditPlus2 and the graphics I created were done using Macromedia Fireworks MX (and photoshop).

I’ve had macapinlac.com since March 2000, but I lost my older blogger entries in a horrible tragic incident involving a burning hard drive, a server and midgets (damn those midgets! nothing but trouble). I’m starting from scratch but I did manage to import some choice entries from my old site. I don’t promote the link to my older entries on purpose; they’re very whiny, shallow and a pain to read but they’re there. Heres an example:

Today, I rode on the bus. I hate people on the bus, they stink! Had a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch and wrote some ASP code. Life is good. Paintball rocks and my Code-fu is better than yours.

As I’ve said, I’m Filipino Canadian. What does that mean, you say? I’m not exactly sure, but it comes down to eating an insane amount of rice and saying ‘eh alot.

I work at ICBC, the single point of insurance for automobiles in this province. Some call it a monopoly; well it is. It also shouldn’t be confused with the other ICBC which is apparently some bank in China. I used to teach Java and object oriented web programming at a local internet college. I left that gig to teach XHTML/CSS, JavaScript and interface design at the local arts school. When I find time, I attempt to run a small design company. Sleep is usually an optional activity for me.

Did I mention that this site represents my opinions and my opinions alone? They definitely doesn’t represent the opinions of my employer(s) or small children in Africa.

Anything else?
