The Ipod is dead! Long live the queen!

When technology dies, it dies big. First it was my server’s power supply and hard drive, now its my Ipod. Granted, I’ve had my Ipod for at least 2 years now (and it has served me well). The battery life of my Ipod has been deteriorating exponentially as the days go by. It was lasting 10 hours, 2 days ago and 3 days ago it was 6 hours. Yesterday, my Ipod batteries lasted a full 2 hours! That’s barely enough to keep my ADHD in check.

So I’m in the market for a new mp3 player and I’m leaning away from the Ipod. Not because I don’t like Ipods anymore; I love them. The Ipod video is to big for an mp3 player and too small to be a video player. The nano feels like I can snap it if I accidentally sit on it (and I do have a tendency to sit on my electronics). So I need some help, which mp3 player do you people use? Or which one of the following would you buy?

  • IRiver Clix – Yea, It’s only 2 Gigs but it can do (crappy) video and it supports flash lite. Can you say hackable?
  • Creative Zen V – These things are soo uber cute, all they really need is some sort of Hello Kitty branding and every asian girl (and 20-somthing otaku like me) would be shooting each other to get one.
  • Mobiblu DAH-1500i – Ok, I can’t really wear these things as earrings but I could bling-bling them as a necklace or a cellphone charm, I’d probably lose them though… or swallow them.

Picks? Suggestions? I’m open to anything really.

    Heather, there are lots of things of yours that I would like to fiddle with (that totally didn’t come out right). I mean, your camera… your laptop (that totally didn’t come out right either)… now your mp3 player. Christopher don’t hurt me.

    Honestly though, your post concerns me. You’re the third iPod owner I know who’s had to search for a new MP3 player. I have one buddy who simply replaced his battery on his 3rd Gen. pretty easily. Maybe give that a shot?

    Otherwise, my vote goes to the Zen V. They look super sweet. I think they’re on sale this week at Best Buy too!

    Mmm.. no suggestion from me. I use mine for listening to MP3 files and not watching videos (not sure if that’s something you’re looking for). Anyways, I’m not allowed to have headsets around here so I can’t even use my MP3 player as an MP3 player. It’s currently acting like an oversized Flash-drive.
