10 days? Yes, it is time for an update.

At some point in time, I have to figure out why I keep neglecting this blog. Actually, I’ve been in renovation mode again at home. Last year, I tackled my living room and the year before was the kitchen. This year it’s my office. The plan is to move the servers out of my office and move it to a dedicated data center (by dedicated data center, I mean the small room in the first floor of my house). This opens the room up and it can actually be treated like a working office.

You read that correctly. I’m building a server room in my house complete with a Sun server cabinet, UPS, and proper cooling (read: portable air conditioning). As I typed that, I felt my geek quotient go up +5 (which also affords me 10 attack points when I carry a computer).

So the scope of this round of renovations are actually two-sided: the server room and the office. The plan for the office is to turn it into an actual office/livable guest bedroom. Fix the network connections, repaint the walls a different color, reorganize the junk and install a full sized whiteboard on one of the walls for doodling and support for my ADHD.

I wear the same shoes as Brad Pitt.

Ok fine, maybe I don’t but I heard that he does wear Crocs. I’ve succumed to the trend and bought myself a pair this weekend. These things have got to be the most comfortable shoes/sandals that I own. I feel like I could walk over nails and broken glass only to have it feel like walking on carpet made from new born babies. They’re that good!

The one disadvantage is the fact that you can’t wear them out without looking like a gimp without a fashion sense. These things are ugly. I mean, beaten with the ugly stick 20 times over type ugly. You could use these as visual torture devices and they would be scarily effective.

So yes, in conclusion. Comfortable but ugly. So my advice? Wear them but only indoors. If you do have to wear them outdoors then only only at night… in the dark… in an alleyway without any street lights.

My life is boring…

Well, ok maybe boring to some but not to all. Here is the obligatory what-I-have-been-doing post.

First off, I’ve been watching Anime. A lot of anime. When a person comes back from the Philippines with a 160 Gig hard drive full of fan-subbed anime episodes, catch up can be a lil’ bit challenging. Especially, when you’re on episode 15 of Bleach and the current episode is 50 something. It also adds to the challenge when the other show that you’ve dismissed starts getting interesting again along with a series is restarting. Yea, my life is one big perpetual anime marathon. At some point, I will go crazy and cosplay myself to work (complete with Chun Li outfit).

Secondly, I’ve been trying to catch up with Work, teaching and other related issues that have been festering in my to do list for the last month. The phrase work is kicking my ass is largely an understatement in my case. A more accurate assesement would be Work is beating me senseless to the ground and scooped out my eyeballs with a dull plastic spoon.

And lastly, my poor fileserver is running out of space. Yes, a terabyte does eventually run out (I never thought it was even possible). Which also means, I get to build a bigger file storage system. *giggle* 2 terabytes? 3 Terabytes? 4 Terabytes? 5 Terabytes? More? I do get excited building file servers. I’m a dork.

I've never been good at writing about me/site pages. It seems too much like self-promotion and being the stereotypical passive-agressive asian; I would rather walk around a crowd and into a train rather than interact with a bunch of people. I'm shy that way, which also contradicts this website that talks about me and my life. My friends and family would care to disagree though, since they've seen my crazy & loud side. More »
